All alone at Lonesome Lake

Friends north of here are threatened by fire and they tell me there is a local feeling of being abandoned by the "fire suppression folk".

They - the "fire suppression folk" - are presently putting a little more effort into it, "putting in extensive ground crews at the north end, and helicopter pads (which John built yesterday). Still no water bombers; in fact, the only water bomber was last June 22. . . . This morning on CBC we were told that "fire crews are 'mopping up' the Lonesome Lake fire" - a total lie - I guess their media people felt they needed to get a positive spin to counteract the G & M article."
