[Maybe you're looking for the 2006 Chilcotin Fires]
Pretty substantial coverage on this morning's CBC programme Sounds Like Canada: two Charlotte Lake residents now at Nimpo Lake and then a firefighter.
Here's today's report from Rosemary, from her home at The Precipice.
"Good news for us, at least - as of last night the fire on the east side of Lonesome Lake (which was the threat to us) is contained, and the firebreak is holding. Sort of good news for Charlotte people living on the north side - the fire there is spreading on the south side of the lake, over towards Rimarko. The cabins on Crazy Bear and Stewart and Baby Charlotte were all saved, also a couple on the south side of Charlotte. A fire break between the fire and Rimarko may still hold.
A town meeting on the Reserve in their new building last night was attended by 200 people. . . . the visuals and slides were well presented and compelling - . . . starting to believe that when the fire first started, it really couldn't have been checked at that point. Dumping retardant on such steep ground without benefit of ground crew would have been futile - it keeps going under the boulders and rocks."
