[Maybe you're looking for the 2006 Chilcotin Fires ]
"The fire as of last night was "90% contained" on the north side of Charlotte Lake; it's looking good for the residents there. The fire on the south side is still moving east but they're putting a lot of manpower on it.
The fire that was threatening the Precipice - Lonesome Lake / Hunlen Falls - is reduced to a mopping-up operation with firebreaks, automatic sprinklers, and a crew of 15. If it had gotten away from them, it could have come up through the Precipice and gone up on the plateau, putting Anahim and Nimpo Lakes in serious jeopardy.
It hasn't gone further up Whitton Creek or Rainbow Lake, but Chris still isn't relaxing much. Light showers are predicted for tomorrow which probably won't dampen things enough to make a difference. There are still a couple of valleys between the fire and Nuk Tessli so we're very optimistic. Chances are good that another week will see a big difference."
