Actively question Christmas as a consumerist & appropriated pagan tradition & establish new celebrations that are directly connected to the people that are celebrating, in other words organic & sustainable jubilees which honor the land & her inhabitants past, present & future.

My personal views are close to yours Miekal. However, my intention is to offer a step out for those who feel caught in the consumerism of the season, however the holiday may be labelled.

One week to the Solstice! Up here in the north, I look forward to the lengthening days.

For a book filled with information and perspective on "organic & sustainable jubilees which honor the land & her inhabitants past, present & future", take a look at Celebrate the Solstice: Honoring the Earth's Seasonal Rhythms through Festival and Ceremony by Richard Heinberg - at http://www.museletter.com/books.html
